Sorry... Here once again the newsletter in the RIGHT LANGUAGE :-)

well, I wouldn't call it spring, yet, but while the temperatures rise above Zero, snow is melting and I even see several cyclists a day... so ... hope is not far away.
And from now I will use a new separation:
* First come "events in the future" starting with the nearest  events (I hope, you don't mind if I repeat them, when we come closer)
* Second a review of past events and news (articles in the press, so funny or interesting reading).
The texts links refer usually to local language...

2009-02-26 Critical Mass Cyclists Demonstration all over Lithuania

After the CM (around 19.30) there will be a small meeting of the Vilnius Cyclists' Community in the Velo-City office in Bernardinu Str. 10 in order to discuss plans for the future, specially how to take influence on the policy of the municipality

BaltiCCycle on the world's largest tourism fair, the ITB in Berlin

    The BaltiCCycle Partner Saulius Ružinskas (Klaipėda) and Frank'as Wurft (Vilnius) have the honour to present news on active tourism in the Baltic States.

2010-03-19 Workshop the "BaltC Sea Cycle Route EuroVelo No. 10" in Klaipeda, Lithuania

On March, 19th a international workshop  “EuroVel" route Nr. 10” - Results and perspektives for bicycle tourism" is about to happen in Hotel Amberton (widely known as  Hotel Klaipeda) in Klaipeda. After the one-day conference there will be a workshop with representatives of all Baltic Sea countries more  here...

funny article in a country where many do not regard the bicycle as a means of transport at all..

Here is an article about the exposition "Bicycle sport in Lithuania" in the forth biggest city Šiauliai. And see, we got famous sports cyclists:   Gabrielius Pabijanskas (BMX) and Vilma Rimšaitė.

As that's what the only real numbers on cyclists in Lithuania say: The Statitics of the ferry from Klaipeda city to the Curonian spit; They say in 2009 there were 190 bicycle carried. See the whole statistics here...

2010-01-27 City can't solve the conflict of the bicycle path in Klaipeda
Finally the conflict between cyclists and pedestrians arouse because after reconstruction there was no space left for pedestrians on the side walk, now they do not want to get the cyclists back on the road, because there they "would disturb the car drivers".
