1. The distances in the Baltic States are bigger as you might think. The countries do not have many inhabitants, which often misleads to the idea, that they are small. Lithuania is bigger than the Netherlands, but has only 3,5 Mln. inhabitants (the Netherlands: 12 mln.).

Ein paar übliche "Fehler"

2.  Road conditions
Bicycle pathes? Still very rare. Only exception is the the "Seacoast cycle route" in Lithuania.

The extremes are motorways, which maybe out of the few cities have not much traffic but are pretty boring and the so called "riffleboard" gravel roads.

2. Straßenbedingungen

Richtige Radwege sind immer noch eine Seltenheit (mit Ausnahme des Küstenradweges in Litauen).

Die Extreme sind schnurgerade Autobahnen, die außerhalb der größeren Städte vielleicht nicht viel Verkehr haben, aber todlangweilig sind einerseits und

Rüttelschotterpisten (Spitzname: "Waschbrett") auf der anderen Seite.

BaltiCCycle chooses few traffic roads with a good surface for you, but we can't avoid other roads 100%

3. it is popular (often due to the lack of good maps to draw a direct line, say Vilnius - Riga - Tallinn,

BUT you have to consider that
a) this is the way of the motorway "Via Baltica" with a hell of HGV
b) the middle of Lithuania is the most boring part (flat, fields, old industrial towns)

The attractive routes are either at or close to the Sea
OR in the far east (close to the border to Russia and Belarus), where the lakes, rivers and forests are.

as one exception the "Nieman Cycle Trail" links both region while cycling from Vilnius to Klaipeda.

And the "Hill of Crosses" is somewhere in the middle of nowhere and usually a stop on a bustrip

BaltiCCycle sucht deswegen verkehrsarme Straßen mit einer guten Straßenoberfläche für Sie heraus, Hauptstraßen und Schotterpristen können aber nicht zu 100% vermieden werden.

Also sollte man sich zuerst überlegen: Will man lieber die Küste im Westen oder die Wälder, Seen und Weite des Ostens? Das beste ist natürlich eine Kombination, so die Tour am "Memelradweg" von der litauischen "Hauptstadt des Barocks" Vilnius bis zur Kurischen Nehrung oder von der Kurischen Nehrung nach Riga (in beiden Fällen knapp 2 Wochen)
